HUMAN VS AI
This page features my exploration into the realm of the controversial AI art. The AI I am using is leonardo ai. You can register with your email by getting whitelisted by them and then use for free with the basic plan.
Training AI to draw entanglement

I started with technical drawing engine developed by others to try to generate images that mimic my engtanglement drawings.

The prompt I used was "very intricate entangled curves drawing enclosing me in the image in the centre". I also uploaded a photo of me for reference. But it didn't always work. So at first it doesn't quite look like it.
Feeding AI with my drawings
I used my own drawing as the dataset to train the AI module and asked it to copy my style. The results are actually quite satisfactory, as you can see at the bottom of the screenshot.

Its instance prompts are "entangle, entanglement, intertwined, complex"

One of the things I want to challenge is not only developing a style that AI cannot invent by itself without feeding it images, but also the limitations of human creativity. That's one of the reasons why I have been developing the entanglement, in addition to using it simply as my own visual language.

This time, the prompt is "entanglement with a broken, pierced heart (organ) in the middle of it, in the middle of the image, in black and white"

If you take a closer look, the curves are not necessarily joined together, whereas in my own drawing, I made efforts to keep them joined, unless it's like an open end.

But still what it mainly cannot do is have the physicality of the work, the tangible 3D object that you can hold in your hand to feel, weight, smell, or even listen to. So my next step is to print these out, try to add physical touch to it and present it as if it is just like my other pieces of work and display it for people to contemplate.
Copy me print

Following "Copy me" idea on this page, I used photopolymer plate to make an oil print of the AI generated image. With increased human involvement in the process, would the AI part still be distinguishable? What would it mean for human creativity? It requires hours to create the print even though it only took a dozen of seconds to generate the image. Can I claim the creativity of this work then?
